San Jose became the first chartered city in California (c. 1850) and has become the third largest in the state. Close to downtown, this home was built in 1906, which gives it a certain feeling of nostalgia. It’s easy to imagine life in this new city back then with its bustling trade depot and soon to arrive railroad connecting to San Francisco. This sturdy and proud victorian residence would have been home to multiple generations over the years. Currently it is home to people who care deeply about San Jose, devoting years to public service and committed to restoring this wonderful legacy of a time capsule they call home. We would like to think that somehow we aided this effort with the design of a rear yard extension (including the basement) and a new complamenty detached garage and ADU. What would our forefathers think of the new addition - what do you think?
